Colin C. Murphy is an author who successfully writes across a range of genres and who has had twenty-six books published, ranging from widely acclaimed historical fiction, to history to humour, and there’s even a guide book to his beloved Dublin. Many of his books have been best-sellers and they’ve topped the Irish charts on several occasions. He spent most of his working life in the advertising business, first as a copywriter and for the final ten years as creative director of one of Dublin’s leading advertising agencies. During his advertising career he won literally hundreds of national and international awards, and his mantlepiece was overflowing with grand prix and gold trophies for TV, Radio, press and poster adverts.
Then in 2010 he decided to leave all that behind and dive headlong into the life of an author, and now wholeheartedly believes it to be the greatest job on the planet. He was born in Dublin and reared in a working class home in Crumlin and learned his writing skills simply though reading voraciously from a young age and through practice, practice and more practice. He is also a fanatical hillwalker and has climbed every hill or mountain in Ireland over 500 metres high – there are 407 of them! He is also a contributor to a hillwalking lists book and writes the occasional hillwalking article, usually with a historical leaning. He lives in Terenure in Dublin and is married with two grown-up children.
